Dedicated to the preservation of Lake County History

Welcome to Historic Lake County, California

Welcome to the official web site of the Lake County Historical Society (LCHS).

We hope that this site gives you a good overview of our organization and its goals. The Lake County Historical Society collects, restores, and preserves the artifacts and historic documents relating to the history of Lake County, California. Our mission is to encourage research and to foster education regarding our cultural history.

By navigating the topics in the column to the left you can purchase books of local historical interest, read about recent LCHS activities, make plans to attend future Society events, and enrich your knowledge of the fascinating history of this county that we are privileged to call home.

With over 750 members, the Historical Society is the second largest organized group in Lake County — second only to the number of persons employed by the county itself.

If you are interested in participating in any of our events or activities, please contact us at: Lake County Historical Society; P. O. Box 1011; Lakeport, CA 95453. Or, you can go directly to the top and e-mail our current President, Randy Ridgel, at randy@pacific.net.

In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy your visit to our web site!

Come in Mr. Mauldin!
