These are the people
who make the Ely possible

Museums don’t just exist, they are held together, operated, maintained, cleaned, upgraded, and made interesting by the people (all volunteers in our case) who are committed to their function. Our museum staff have rich and varied backgrounds and represent a wide range of interests that make them essential to the operation. The trick is to match a staff person’s abilities and interests to one or more of the many museum needs.

Because the Ely is both and indoor and outdoor facility that has both static and interactive displays as well as monthly and yearly events, some of our museum’s needs include:

  • Artifact and equipment restoration.

  • Grounds keeping and building maintenance.

  • Cooking and serving.

  • Seasonal decoration.

  • Event planning.

  • Cataloging and storing of historical artifacts.

  • Historic research.

  • Public interaction (including public relations, outreach, solicitation of donations, teaching, and staffing the museum).

  • Financial and legal expertise.

  • Security and safety expertise.

  • IT (information technology) expertise.

  • Display development.

If you have an interest in any of these activities or abilities, and want to help bring a smile and knowledge to others, bring your interest and ability to the Ely and join our dedicated group of volunteers.
